Tuna Crudo recipe ⬇️
🐟 Since the fish will be consumed raw it is important to purchase the highest-quality tuna, preferably a thick piece from the loin. The tuna needs to spend 10 minutes in the freezer before it is sliced.
Ingredients
- thick piece of tuna (preferably from the loin)
- tbs olive oil
- tbs freshly squeezed orange juice or lemon juice
- tsp freshly squeezed lime juice
- tsp fish sauce
- tsp thinly sliced shallot
- tsp thinly sliced jalapenos (optional)
- tbs capers, drained well
- /tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- -leaves basil, thinly sliced
- Avocado, sliced for garnish
- Coarse kosher or sea salt
Directions
- Place the tuna in the freezer for 0 minutes; this helps it firm up, which makes it easier to slice.
- In a bowl mix together the shallots, red hot chili pepper, jalapeno, capers, basil, olive oil, fish sauce and citrus juices. Set aside.
- Thinly slice the tuna. As you work, gently press each slice onto the cutting surface with your fingers, to flatten it, then transfer to a serving platter, arranging the slices in layer.
- Spoon the vinaigrette over the fish and sprinkle with salt. Garnish with avocado and serve immediately.
